Miscellaneous stuff...

In case you missed it, I did a very embarrassing post on old bad pics over at the Friday the Thirteeners which you can go see here.

And another one of our awesome Thirteeners just had a cover reveal that I forgot to blog about. Blame deadlinitis! But I have to put it up here because it is simply too beautiful not to share:

This is Shannon Messengers epic novel about sylphs, air elementals! Yes that's not something you've probably heard of before and yes you should probably go check it out! Shannon talks about her book  here. And I am simply dying to read this book!

It's really exciting to see the Thirteener's sidebar filling up with covers. And I'm very excited to share with you that I'll be next with two other Thirteeners who I won't name but I'm so excited that we are all going to be sharing our covers very soon.

In other news, I'm out of my revision cave for now and am excited to work on marketing related to my book and I'm interested in hearing what kind of book swag - promotional items  - you guys think are most effective. Everyone does bookmarks and postcards but what about specialty items? Fans, candles, magnets, mirrors, tote items - what do you think of these items and do you think they are effective marketing tools?

What have been your favorite swag items?
What has been your least favorite?
What was the most original?

Thanks for your help guys! If you can help me out with answers here, I'll include anyone who comments here in my special SWAG giveaway when I start getting it together so please help a sister out and share your thoughts!

At the AWP Conference this year, I got a small field notebook with a clip-on pen. That was pretty cool, but I'm sure the publisher dropped big bucks for that.

Candles and hand-fans would be pretty cool. Would this tie in to your story somehow?

Thanks Angela!

Candles and hand fans not so much, but the charms I'm thinking of are more cultural as opposed to being really part of my book. Hmmmm, I'll have to think on it some more.

Hey Ellen, I'm reeeeeeally ambivalent about book swag - generally I just want the flipping BOOK - but I do actually use bookmarks, which is a boring choice but there it is.
